Is it possible to paint the hands in the cluster red??

As far as I can recall someone here did by using nail polisher brush, and some kind of paint (I don't really remember what paint it was)

 

Aesthetically, it'll obviously make for a more sportier look if it's executed with the utmost precision with the steadiest hand. But since the needle already lights up red at night, do you realize that with a coat of paint, the red glow from the needle would be dramatically reduced, or perhaps eliminated (you won't see the needle at night)???
