We had a bad hail storm yesterday around here. It was unbelievable and scary to be out in it. First the temperature dropped from 75 degrees to 47 in a matter of minutes...yes I said 47! At one point I was driving down a main road with some deep puddles and the next minute it turned into a river! It got so bad that I had to pull into a parking lot to get out off the street. Then the next bad thing happened...I went right over a curb. I couldn't even see it because there the water was over a foot high! I ripped up my liner under the car. I still have a piece of it that I had to rip off because it was hanging and dragging on the ground. The paint flaked of a corner of my front spoiler, and my fog lights were filled with water!

Now for the hail part...It sounded like rocks hitting my car. It lasted for a good 20 minutes. Some of the hail was the size of a quarter! I have little dent marks all over my car now. The hood fared the best since I can only find one little blemish on there. There are about 10+ dents on my roof, 1 on a door, and 2 on my trunk! I will try to take pics of this later. I will be calling my insurance company this morning. I'm sooo bummed about it.

Here are some camera phone pics...I stole the one with the ruler off a local news station website.

Hi, it looks like wintertime in Canada

It?s good, that you are OK !!!! It is very important not to go with the BMW when there is high-water - you can get very quckliy an engine trouble which is very expensive. A friend of mine had this in Prague with his 330d. He went by car to bring his friends home and then it happened. So be carefull next time

It is unbeliveble what is going on with the weather on our planet!!

Most important is, that your are ok!

Ouch! Sorry to hear it. Glad your ok though. Insurance will take care of the damage. Just take it to a reputable and competent body shop. Keep us updated. Good luck!

I watched a golf ball sized hail storm tear up my last new car before I even made my first payment.

Assuming your insurance company is good at processing claims, your problem
now is going to be getting in to a good body shop since all of them will be neck deep in work. It took me almost two weeks to find a shop that wasn't already booked solid - then another three weeks to get the work done.

Good luck.

Huge bummer about the damage -- hail sucks!

I always feel horrible when it hails and my car is parked outside -- but just imagine what it feels like to be a new car dealer when it hails!!

That dude in the last picture of yours looks like he's headed for some trouble -- did he make it through?

Im glad you are okay.

I totally understand what you went through. I was stuck in a winter strom this past january in my 3 series. The weather just turned upside down in within mins.

Your car will be fine soon.

We hit a storm like that recently whilst on the autobahn at relatively high-speed and it scared the sh*t out of us when we first the storm -- you simply can't tell whats happening around you and have no-where to go. Fortunately everyone around us dropped their speed quickly and drove sensibly / safe distances.

You did the right thing by getting off the road quickly, its just unfotunate you hit the curb. Sorry to hear your ride was damaged. No doubt members here can advise you best how to get things fixed in your area -- good luck with it all...

Dang, those pictures look nasty! Most importantly you're okay. Though how okay are you really, when your baby's been hurt like that
