I had issues with bluetooth language compatibility, lack of RDS radio names on I-drive. Also had to have the left hand light assembly replaced under warranty because of condensation forming inside. Dealer suggested that the remedy for the first two issues was a software update. Who am I to argue. My impressions after the upgrade:
Apparently the AC needed about 15 minutes to learn the new environment and then it would work fine. The next day after 100 km trip it was still "learning" and would only blow cold below speeds of 50 km/h. Fiddled with all the buttons and I-drive climate settings to no avail. Maybe it was telling me to slow down. This was in a 33 deg C heat wave. No fun. When I stopped to fill up I left the engine running to cool the car down and something finally clicked. Result - now it was blowing freezing cold all the time regardless of temperature settings.
Positive side - auto gearbox is now shifting the way I had always wanted it to shift and the car feels much more spirited and lively. I bought the car 6 months old with 20.000 kms on the clock so maybe it has now learnt my driving style rather than the old owner's? Also the active steering seems to have stronger assistance but I might be wrong.
Moral:
Don't do CIP updates in a heat wave :'(

Does anyone have the release notes for this CIP version?
This is the first mention I see of this version.
