Well I went to the drag strip today. The results were not as good as I expected, but I did prove that my GT2 timer is very accurate.I have been trying to post the drag strip time sheets but evidently my driving skills are better than my computer skills.I cannot get them attached.
I was having traction problems,my road that I test on has better traction than the drag strip so I could not get a "zero wheelspin" start. My best run was 13.64 @ 103.22.The GT2 said 13.55 @ 103.00.The GT2 was consistantly less than .1 secs diff from the strip timer. The speeds on the GT2 were usually a little slower than the strip.A poster indicated he thought they would be 4 to 5 mph faster than the strip timer.
I ran 4 passes,2 with DTC/DTS on and 2 with the controls off.The 2 with controls on were not good.Too much wheelspin causing controls to reduce hp & torque(best 13.80).The 2 without controls were better but I was still having traction problems. If I could run a bunch more times I could probably get the start down correctly, but you get 4 passes for 25$.
If I can't figure out how to attach I will transcribe the time sheets to a post with my GT2 times next to each point.

Still very good g-man. And, you have confirmed the accuracy of your meter and meters in general. Did you get the weather and altitude data, or are you giving us weather and altitude adjusted data?

So based on your results it seems plausible that the claims that a 550i step. runs a 5.2 to 60 and 13.5 1/4 mile are accurate?

Well, below are the US mag claims. I am not sure what claims you are referring to.

(1) BMW 550i--Manual RT 7/06 5.0 13.5 105.0
(2) BMW 550i--Steptronic CD 11/06 5.2 13.7 104.0

I think that, as with the 545i, the Step will turn out to be king. So, IMO, the 550i Step will turn out to be a tad faster than what's in (1) or the 550i manual will turn out to be a tad slower than what's in (2).
