hi guys/ gals

Im in to the forum so i wanted to say hello and possible see if i could get some advice from the experts . I just recently purchased a 05 545i with 37000 miles, I serviced the car to care for normal things like oil change, air filter, and etc. One thing i noticed was there was a Hissing sound when i braked. So i figured it just needed new brakes and rotors. I get back my car today and my service advisors tells me nothing is wrong with the brakes or rotors. The brakes still have 5 mm, front and back. Test drove the car still getting the hissing sound. So now im confused any ideas what it could be?? Im thinking od just going back tommorow and see if the are willing to just change all the brakes and rotors. Thx again guys

Welcome to e60.net Jay! That 2005 545i is an Awesome Car! Unfortunately I can't really tell you what that hissing noise is. Some of the other guys on this forum are really advanced and should be able to point you in the correct direction. The only thing I would suggest is that, if you are at the dealership, ask one of the service tech's to come out on a test drive with you and specifically point out the noise. Also, what does the iDrive say about the life of your current brakes?

Hopefully you get it resolved!

Enjoy the forums!

welcome to the forums... as for the breaks, the only thing i can think of is you have some dirt/sand trapped between the pads and rotors, which should burn off. do a visual check of the rotors to see if its nice and clean, or if it has any groves/scoring on it. let us know...

Welcome!
Had a similar brake noise, so i too stopped by the dealer. After checking the brakes and having plenty of pad and straight rotors, my SA told me that they found nothing and that I would have to live with some noise. I've got 15k miles on my car and kinda have a problem with that!! I asked them to change pads, but they wouldn't. I guess I could buy new pads...

Good Luck.
