Had my second bad experience with Greenwich BMW and will avoid them going forward... I wanted to know what can be done when the dealer damages your car, knows it, and refuses to remedy the problem(and if there is a better BMW service alternative in the Westchester/Fairfield area)?

Last week I brought my 545i in for detail and oil change. I noticed they thoroughly photographed the car at the time of drop-off. Car looked great when I picked-up - when I got home I noticed they sliced the rear bumper beneath the license plate.
I immediately called my rep - he sent the photos taken at the drop-off, I sent him my photo of the new damage and he recognized that what I sent him was not on his pictures and he would discuss with his manager. I haven't heard from anyone since.
I believe they should be responsible and should repair damage - what can I do...

That sucks! They probably photographed the car and photoshopped that part out, knowing they damaged it....just to cover their asses when you finally noticed it later. Since you didn't catch it prior to leaving, they will say you did it and will have proof to back it up.

You could be screwed, but at least the dealer should try and help you out. Good luck!

Call BMW Corporate office like I did. Open up a case and file a management level complain about the dealership.

I would think if you are cool about it (even though I'm sure you're steamed), and they at least are reasonable about it, they will handle the problem. I would think a trip to the dealership should get it taken care of. .02.

Mine was the car that was damaged by the dealer doing a "complementary" wash! They scratched the entire clear coating on the paint! Just be vigilant and they should take care of you! Also, DON'T be afraid of moving up the chain of command at the dealership, EVENTUALLY you will relay your story to somebody who can and WILL take care of this problem for you! Just don't give up at "NO"!

I had a perfect buying experience with Greenwich BMW, so I hope people don't read this thread and avoid this dealership.

I have not yet had experience with their service department (which is in New York and merged with Pace BMW now that they are owned by DCH). However based on my experience at the dealer I am pretty sure my CA would take care of me should something like this happen to me. I would suggest you escalate the problem within the dealership and if you do not get satisfaction then threaten to squeal to corporate. They should take care of you, I should hope...

It looks like someone was carrying something sharp and scraped your car as they walked by ie a part or something. It wouldn't cost much for the dealer to respray your bumper , they do it all the time with CPO's . If they are good they will fix it for you . I inspect every inch of my cars when I get them back , my dealer put a door ding in my X5 a few months ago and they fixed (PDR)................good luck
