I was driving back from Atlanta to Charlotte yesterday. I was driving not too far behind some redneck hauling a big ball of carpet in his truck, of course he was keeping the tailgate open to take advantage of maximum aerodynamic drag. And, soon that big ball of carpet fell out. I narrowly missed hitting it head on, but almost hit the concrete wall to the left of me so it was either the carpet or the wall.
Anyway, it left a good amount of rubber/carpet on the bumper as you can see. It popped out the fog light, but the light still works it seems.
Any suggestions on how to:
-get the remaining carpet/rubber/plastic off without too much damage
-fix the scratches that are a little deeper
-properly putting the fog light back into place.
Thank you in advance folks!

ouch... sorry to hear about that. You can definitely get the scratches buffed out... I see you may need to get it painted on the bottom as the carpet may have rubbed it off. The fog light can be removed from the back of the bumper... easily accessible via the wheel well.
I had a 16 wheeler blow a tire while driving behind it once... the tire flew up and dented the top of my e36 hood! Not a good feeling. Needless to say, I don't drive behind trucks any more... they also pickup pebbles that ruin your bumper. SMH.

I feel your pain...car to my right knocked a piece of debris into my lane without time to react. Didn't break the fog light, just a nasty gash in the lower bumper...

That's a damn shame and I sincerely feel your pain. Living in Southern California is no cake walk. Anything from 18 wheeler blown tires, mattresses, ladders, metal, and beds are in the freeways, especially the 118 freeway either direction. You really have to pay close attention while driving. Not only for the crap in the freeway, but the cell phone and text fanatics who are definitely not paying attention.
