Probably true. I had a repair to a sidewall and they told me to consider it temporary. It wasn't long until I had to replace the tire because I was continually having to add air to it.

I've plugged my tires many many times before and never had a problem, they were RFT tho... with non-runflats i went with patching... It just "feels" safer. You should be fine.

I've had 5 nail punctures on these set of wheels, they are like a magnet.

Patching may be preferred over plugging. You might feel a strange sensation if you plug a low profile tire. Here's a link, but you might want to do more research. As always, YMMV.

Bud, I've rolled around with a plug in a tire once for 2 years w/o a problem. Don't worry about it.
+1. I ran over a nail in my e46 and had a plug/patch in the tread until I sold the car over two years later.

I think it's mainly a potential issue if the damage is in the sidewall.

My car wasn't even 2 weeks old (for me) when I got a roofing nail in it. The tire shop said it was so close to the edge that they couldn't patch it. It was hard paying $225 for a new tire when I hadn't even made one payment on the car.

Now that truly sucks.
