Well after what seemed like an agonising wait I eventually got hold of my new 530d M-Sport. I picked the car up only 4 hours after it arriving at the dealing so the PDI didn't involve much cleaning. It didn't bother me as I was planning to detail the car my self. Photos are below after 8 hours of claying, cleansing & waxing - check out those reflections !!

This is one fantasic car. The automatic gearbox is so good, much much better than any other automatic I've driven, the changes are almost imperceptibable. The engine is very punchy too. I'm keeping under 3k RPM but there's still loads of oomph. The ride is amazingly compliant given the M-sports suspension and 19" wheels.

I also purchased the iPod cable for the USB port which works a treat, but doesn't leave much room under the telephone crade for a an Ipod in a protective cover - it's a bit of a squeeze. The cream beige leather looks great but if anyone is considering this then get a set of cheap floor mats to protect the expensive BMW ones. I've bought a semi-fitted set for ?25 which I'll simply chuck away after 6-9 months.

If anyone has one of these on order... you won't be disappointed.

Looks great. What brands/products did you use for the detailing?

I took my new LCI 535d for its first proper spin yesterday: I agree about the ride, much better than with runflats.

I've used Zymol products which I converted to (from Autoglym) 4 years ago. Quite (very actually) expensive but the results are phenomenal. For this first waxing I used Vintage glaze which retails at the ridiculously high price of ?1852 per 623g ( ), however I was lucky enough a few years back to purchase a sampler kit which included about 115g of each of the 3 top waxes. The sample kit was ?200 but on a gramme per gramme basis the kit included about ?900 worth of wax (female logic would classify this as a bargain ). Unfortunately you can no longer get the sample kits - pity.

In the USA the Zymol prices are dollars for pounds so effectively half price (if you live in the UK).

To get the best results you need to spend a lot of time initially but it does last, providing you spend and hour or so every 4-6 weeks topping up the wax.

Did the facelift get a new auto transmission in place of the old ZF 6 speed? Is it now a 7 Speed? My dad has a post facelift 7 speed Merc E320 CDi and the transmission is far superior to that in my 530d.
