And there were still expensive items I did not fix:
The Active Headlights needed a new module. $1000
And the Pass side mirror needed a new motor. $450
I was worried that if I kept it any longer there would be yet another big repair bill.
I wish I had traded it before 100,000 miles. HUGE mistake keeping it beyond that point.

SWEET ride!!! 9 years is a long time to hold on to 'em. I'm on 7 years and that is 4 years and 100,000 miles longer than I should have kept it. An S6 is one powerful, fast, and sexy beast! Keep us posted on the happenings with her and ENJOY!!!

Yes, it has been my favorite car I have ever owned thus far. It's really hard to believe it is gone.
I was one of the absolute first people in the USA to get the M Tech Package installed. I ordered it from Germany long before BMW ever offered it in the USA. Had it painted at the factory. That reminds me I still have the original bumpers and side skirts in my attic over the garage. Not sure what I'm going to do with those?
I had always imagined selling it privately, and getting to talk to the new owner about it.
Trading it in almost feels wrong... Like leaving a dog at the vet to be put down.
But I just didn't have the time or patience to attempt a private sale. Plus, with the high miles it might have been difficult to sell?
Since my warranty expired at the end of 4 years, I can remember replacing the following:
Active Steering Control Module
Vacuum Pump
Clutch
Intake Silencer
Expansion Tank
Water Pump
Batteries
Alternator
Coolant Hose
Valley Pan
Rear Wishbone
Front & Rear Windshield rubber seals
Trunk Lid Opener wire harness
Various oil and coolant leaks, brake pads and rotors, control arm bushings.
That's just what I can remember.
