Default Goodbye e60, for now anyway...

So, after 3 years and a pretty tumultuous relationship, my car is being totaled by the insurance company after its 4th "flood" and no apparent cause. I have had everything from sunroof drains to ebox drains to vapor barriers replaced and or cleaned out and 2 different dealers are saying they cannot replicate the problem... famous words from BMW dealers. I garaged my car and drove it 50% of the time as I also drive my Jeep in snow and on sunny days..The water is getting in somehow and no one seems to know how. I have said it before, and will say it again and again, its a problem a car like a BMW should not have. BMW NA takes no responsibility and the dealers don't seem to care. German engineering at its finest right?

Through all this I will still say I LOVE(D) my car... big powerful 8 cylinder, comfortable auburn interior, great Logic7, great performance and all the power you will ever need... but obviously it wasn't meant to be.

So now the search for another car begins, and while I am still a bit afraid of the BMW, I have to include it in my search. So, a 535, or 550 along with an Audi S5 and maybe the Mercedes Benz CLS550... any input from you guys on these? I am not looking for haters - just honest and pure input.
Thanks for all the help,
Jay

I have no experience with any of those cars but I'll say this: The MB CLS looks like an orange wedge. And in my neck of the woods, I usually see them slammed on 20's with the darkest tint you can find. I just think they look ridiculous.

If you want to leave BMW, of those options the Audi is the way to go.

How does your car flood if you garage it?

Get the new 550i, since you love BMW give them another chance with a 550i. Take a look at the new F10 you may like it. Since you have an E60 im not sure if you would like the E60 LCI 550i?

what if you systematically sprayed water on the car with a hose pipe, and just waited to see where the water came in from? it can't be that hard to find the source if you follow a methodical manor?

Because something is terribly wrong with the car... and it rained when I was at work... yes, just rain. Sounds ridiculous and is.

I would most likely be in the market for an 09-10ish model.

It was done... in fact the dealership stated they water tested it for hours and nothing. The service manager said it could be a seem drawing water in... of course the last time it took on water was simply from sitting in a rain storm while I was working...
