Well you lot are about as unbiased as one would expect
lol
Cheers for the input. None of the cars I'm considering compare well to the 530 for performance and driving fun, but as you may have gathered from my list, I am looking for an all wheel drive car and not a big fan of the 525xi. Yes I have a dedicated winter set up for the 530 but my drive to work is uphill, downhill, twisties, snow, no civilization, and two late nights a month for board meetings, so an all-wheel drive will inspire a bit more confidence. Although the joy of driving it to and from work during the summer will be diminished somewhat
I am a bit surprised at the number of votes for the A4, I actually had it ranked well back of the 330xi and the GS350. I will go for a spin in the 330 and the GS tomorrow.
Any thoughts on the A6 over the A4? Aside from the bigger body, engine? Does it have the same prestige (and performance, etc) as a 5er compared to the 3 series?

I had a 2007 Lexus GS350 AWD ... Had it of less than 2 years. The interior dash rattling sounds drove me nuts, especially in the winter time and decided to dump it and bought myself a 2008 535xi.
Took the Lexus back so many times and one time, the dealership had my car for 3 days and still could not fix it. Even the head mechanics said it is a well-known issue.

Hello folks
I'm considering changing my ride. I will be back to the 5 series in a few years depending on how the F10 fares, but for now, help me out by sharing your opinion. I'm getting very decent trade-in $$ for the 530 so here are my choices - in no particular order.
1. 2007 Lexus GS350 AWD
2. 2007 Audi A4 S-line AWD
3. 2006 BMW 330xi
4. 2008 MB C300 AWD
Cheers

This is like comparing 3 series against 5. I do not see 335 being an UPGRADE from 530 unless getting a faster car from the current one woud be considered an upgrade. It is like saying a getting V8 mustang is an upgrade from MB E350 ( couse it is faster) it makes no sense at all. Anyway good luck with Your choice. I do not see a replacement car for You in none of those You put in comparison. Maybe an A6.

That 06 GS430 I test drove had a rattle in the dash too, very irritating to say the least and the 300hp felt more like 240 IMO. Very dissapointed as Lexus claims to be such a smooth car

I would go with the Audi, but maybe you could swing a little extra cash to get an S4 instead? The V8 is pretty fun (pretty heavy on gas though), and it's got a tighter suspension than the 'regular' A4's.
I would definitely shy away from the MB (sloooooooowwwwww), and the GS (smooth, but boring).
