i am trading in my e60 , i am getting a audi a6 sline 2.7 tdi, dont shout at me but my heart wasnt with this car any more, if i could put the inside of an a6 in the 5 series i would be happy. I took an a6 2.7tdi quattro for a good drive, they dont drive quite as nice as the e60 but overall i will be happier, i just never connected with e60.
ps i will stay on this forum if i am not banned as i still have a great interest in great cars
any one know a good a6 forum

Good luck with your Audi. We have an 03 A4 and really like it.
That said, IMHO, the interior on my 06 5er is very nice and is equal if not better than our A4. I looked at the A6 prior to getting the 5er. Yeah, the interior is super plush and one could argue its clearly better than the 5er. However, the interior isn't much better than the prior model or even our A4. A bit of a letdown.
I prefer BMW's approach on the interior, very sporting and more German than the Audi. Of course the BMW drives much better and IMHO the exterior is stunning and unique. Audi was too careful on the A6's exterior design. Bland.
Audis are great products and I would consider the brand in the future, especially if they rid themselves of being heavy, they develop a more neutral front/rear weight distribution, and they have better suspension dynamics.

I like the 5er interior better because it is all about the driving experience. BMW knew that they couldn't afford to distract their drivers with cool little florescent buttons and knobs. Cool gadgets are to be found in the flagship 7 series and A8 for audis. The A6, however, was designed to distract the driver from the experience to their 'cool' console features because of only one reason, they don't drive like BMWs...lol. Well, at least they were clever in realizing this. As I mentioned before the only Audi on my list is the S6 or the RS6.

I test drove an Audi A6 3.2, and it really didn't do much for me. A nicely styled car but not a car for a driving enthusiast.

No S8 on your shopping list? Now that is a fine automobile that I would take any day over my 545i.
Except for the A8/S8, Audi designs and interiors have not evolved - I used to love their Bauhaus designs (my old A6 2.7T and the TT Coupe) and beautiful interiors, but the A6 lost its way somehow.
Until this divergence, Audi could have counted on my purchase even though BMWs drive better. I am just waiting for BMW to screw up now.
