Are you nothing more than a poser that gets kicks out of other people looking at the badge on your car? If you were happy with the performance of your vehicle when you bought it, why would you care if BMW came out with a 590 V16? I'm perfectly happy with my 545i and could care less about the new 550, I bought my car for performance and driving dynamics, not so that I could have the latest thing.

Rodney easy there my lad, you've been on the forum long enough to realize we don't ATTACK other members here. Don't ruin the forum. I would be a poser if I had the debadged and tagged on a M5 badge, NOT FOR DRIVING MY OWN 545I.

I would have been just as happy with the 525I for that matter, the badge means nothing if I didn't have to pay a premium.

You talk of performance I have to see you outrun a 525I in traffic. Traffic levels the playing ground. For that matter an M5 wouldn't outrun you in traffic either. But when you see an M5 this would be a natural reaction Why? not becuase it's driver is doing 200mph on the road or some insanely incredible moves on the road but because it's an M5.

It a good feeling for the M5 driver when other 5 series drivers give him/her a nod, similar to the nods the other 3 series drivers give to the M3 and other 5series drivers give to the 545i, so on. It's not about 'KICKS'. Very unwise of you to judge me like that. What if I were to say people who buy expensive SUV's (Ahem......isn't there a range rover in your signature) and don't drive them anywhere off paved roads are posers? How would that make you feel? :'(

Easy Pal.

There are people who drive a Ford while they could easily afford a Bentley and hire someone to drive them around in it if they wanted to. You choose to spend your money for reasons of your own, does it make you a POSER to spend your money to get someting that carries a certain image with it? I don't think so

And yes I am dissapointed that the image once carried by the 545i is now carried by the 550i in less than a year of ownership.

I dunno I didnt like the fact that they change it to 550 either... every other car they changed the engine on they kept the naming convention this time around why change the 545 to 550? Why pick on the old early adapters punishing them twice with engine upgrade and badge name?

Now when people ask what do you have? I have to say "545" and they'll go why didnt you get the 550? THEN I'll have to explain! ARGH!

Uhm, do you not remember the 528i-->530i change? BMWs gotta keep up with their competition. The competition always seems to blast BMW because they don't have enough HP/torque but we all know the driving experience is built upon way for than raw power. Still...they gotta keep moving...keep growing the powerplant.

I'm confused. They've made the 545i for two years...now they are changing to the 550i.

The 530i and 525i will maintain their respective names but with a decent bump in power.

But, the 528i-->530i conversion didn't happen until model year 4, however. I guess BMW started sooner but it remains to be seen if they bump up the engines yet again....

Maybe I'm missing your point?

I have to admit, I've had several problems with my 545, and I'm not crazy about where BMW is heading. Jeez, . . . I hope I don't have to start buying Mercedes.

I do... I know... I was talking about currently... whats past is past... I can name all sorts of changes... 318 to 323 to 325 and 328 to 330 528 to 530 etc etc... but I wish they kept the 545 like they kept the 525 and 530 even with an engine upgrade... Thats all... *shrugs*

525 = 3.0L now.

Oh I Know... and I've heard of a few of those people... driving a 10 year old Toyota Tercel when he can easily buy a Bently...

I mean ya i know money can be spent elsewhere better investment... but gee tercel?? at least get a better, more crash worthy car to protect yourself. Just My opinion...
