Hi,

I own a 2006 525xiA with the non-navigation iDrive system. Recently, I have noticed that the gong volume is too loud. I know there's a way to adjust the volume of it, but I can't seem to find the setting in the iDrive menu. Where is this feature in the iDrive menu? I'd appreciate your help!

Thanks,

e60owner2006

what is the gong? usually to adjust the nav voice or phone volume, you just press the volume buttons while its speaking.

The warning gong when you don't have a seat belt/door open/below 37 deg F...

No user controlled way of lowering the volume on the warning chime, in the USA. The dealer ....may do it, but it will cost you and most won't do it since it could be a liability issue.

You can change it through volume settings under Tone/Volume, then Volume settings, then warning tones.

check it out.

Oddly enough, the BMW manual says that the volume of the warning tone/gong sound can only be changed on cars with a single drive. This means that that cars that have two drives, one for CD and one for navigation, cannot change the warning tone volume. It doesn't really make sense to me either, but it's in the manual. I went to my car, which is an 08 with Nav, and it doesn't have the option, which goes along with what the manual says.

Out of habit, I always mute the radio when I leave the car. With the radio muted the gong is a LOT louder but quietest when the radio is not muted. Especially notice it with PDC.

Mine is a non-navi model with a single disc player. Thanks everyone, I'll try it.
