For just $9.50 I'm thinking about buying a BMW auxiliary power adapter (P/N 82 11 0 004 073) that plugs into the glovebox flashlight power-plug (and outputs to a standard cigarette lighter power plug) to power both my in-glovebox iPod and my iDrive shelf-mounted Garmin Nuvi680.
Question: is the power from that little flashlight power plug sufficient to power those two devices? I think the plug rating is 3A...

Do the dealers have that auxiliary power adapter now? I tried to buy one at several dealerships in southern Califonia this spring, but was told they were on order - no one seemed to have them then. Sterling BMW parts department was supposed to call me when they came in, but haven't heard anything.

for the ipod and the Nuvi it would be ok. The both draw very low current.

Cool! Thanks! I just made the "Buy It Now" purchase. (Wonder if it'll power my portable blender? )
