Russ, congrats on the new 5er, saw the pics and it looks good! Pity about the curbing on your 172's. I did the same to mine in the 1st week and have now got 3 curbed 172's, all of which could have been avoided with a bit more care...
I was so pi$ed when I first did it that I was very very tempted to jusy pay and get it fixed asap. Anyway, I resisted and have found 172's attract curbs
so am now looking to get all of them done at the same time.
Marc, good that you mentioned M style(Romford right?) - did they take the tyre off and bake the alloy after repair - any details you can share coz ?40 per alloy sounds good. Halfords offer similar service for ?65 and I think Wicked Wheels charge ?75 or so.
I just want the repair to be done so it won't peel/flake later although I'm told they eventually will...not to mention any such repair invalidates the original 3yr warranty on that alloy.

I too have curbed 3 of my 172s - all stupid preventable errors within the first 2 months.
I took the car to my local BMW dealer and they've booked it in to the bodyshop for Monday - ?60 each.

The squeaky brake problem has been discussed (i think hard to search for though). I had it on my 04 545 when it was a few months old and the dealer fixed and told me it was the sensors - see this Service Bulletin
Hope it works out![Thumbsup](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/thumbsup.gif)

Russ, have you, or any one else ever used wheel cleaner on the rims ? Some of the crap they sell is very unfriendly to brakes, as for the wheels it will be a simple, and undetectable process, I just did one of my 172s 2 weeks ago.

I feel for you Russ. There is nothing worse than having a new toy that has niggles or a new toy that's damaged. Hope you manage to get it sorted out.

Just a thought
If you get the dealer to strip the brakes and "copper slip" the caliper contact surfaces as they do when putting new pads on, See if that helps
Or get then to swap the pads either, or you could try some EBC green pads ?
We have family friend that did little very miles on his spotlless E46, he was also a washing polishing fiend, the handbrake and rear brakes seized giving lots of noise due to water not drying off the caliper. BMW advice drive you car after washing to dry off the brakes.
lot of cash for something that annoys but it must be fixable.
PS I got set of 19" 125s from Mstyle 1 week later F#$% wit in a delivery van opens his back door and I had to swerve to miss the idiot and curbed a rear alloy, 40 quid to fix from local guy im told.

Hi! Russ, sorry to hear of your problems and I know how you feel. If one had bought a Hyundai or some other cheaper car one would accept such issues but not when it is a premium brand. I have this squeaky brakes as well, almost from day 1 but I just put up with it. I lived with this for 6 yrs in my previous C class. Sometimes when you want to be extra careful with your new car you tend to be more prone to damaging it thru these small incidents like scratching your rims etc. I knocked into a wall while trying to park as close to the wall as possible when the car was not even a week old. Luckily, there was not much damage but had to replace the licence plate holder (front bumpe). Now I will turn on the PDC whenever I am trying to park close to the wall, not taking any chances.
Hope you will get your problems resolved soon. Cheers!

If your'e OK with crashing I'ld say hit them with WD 40 , maybe some KY and hey why not some olive oil too. Seriously don't spray anything on them , take it back to BMW , check out NY550i I think he has the exact same problem
Cheers

Been to the dealer twice already... they changed the pads and sensors twice and i still got annoying squeeking and high pitch noise coming from the brakes.
My car is currently at the body shop getting some parts installed... once its finished i will be going back to the dealer... i requested them to replace the rotors... hopefully that fixes everything.... i'll let you know how it works out.
