Ok, so I'll admit I am the second owner of my 2004 530i SE. And not buying it from BMW themselves I did not get the full spec of the car.
Now I know most things about the engine, options etc but when it comes to the colour, interior colour and interior trim I don't know how to find out. I needed a small touch up on one of the doors so phoned BMW to get the colour and sure enough they were able to give me it (Black Sapphire 475 for those interested).
Is there a website or something that can tell me about my car based on the reg no. or chassis no. or something or do I have to phone BMW every time I need to find this sort of info out?
just a thought...

I asked the dealer from which I bought my car to run me a report from their system showing the full listing of items originally specced on my car. They were able to do this pretty easily and e-mail the listing to me.

"In addition to the information contained in the VIN number your car will most likely have a build sheet that can often be found under the cushion of the back seat. This sheet covers some of the same info, plus a listing of factory installed items in your car."
go check it out and learn u car
i wonder how many people are tearing up their rear seat right now?? haha

Not sure about the UK but I think any US dealer can print a copy of the original window sticker just by entering the VIN number, etc. You might want to ask the dealer -- having a copy of the sticker will give you pretty much everything you're looking for, right?

Pretty much exactly what I was referring to. I managed to find the mail I received from my dealer and attach an image of it here (in Dutch, I'm afraid). It was quite cool that I had ended up buying a car manufactured on my birthday!
