LOL... maybe I'm trying to find more reason to support myself in getting an E60
the e60 and all german cars are a little more higher maintenance.
if you are the type, you do not NEVER WANT TO SEE your dearler except oil change - it's LEXUSY 4 U BABY.
If you are passionate about your car and driving - no chance u will not like the BMW.
Get the warranty and you are set.

My Ride: 2005 BMW 545i, Titanium Silver. Bridgestone 760s on Weds Bavaria II 18" wheels, standard sport pack size. Sport, AT. Latest job - NGK Iridium IX plugs installed.
i bought my car with only two days to look. I was just so obsessed with getting a 545i that I overlooked a lot of things..if you have time spend some time on this forum. Shop around. Also look at the brochures from that model year. I think I grabbed the pdf from this site.
Noticed you have not mentioned the Infiniti M45, which would also be worth a look. Not as elegantly designed as the e60 or GS but in the same category perf wise

My Ride: 2005 545i with everything
I've loved my 545i. A few minor problems but nothing major. I just bought it off lease if that tells you anything. It will be my driver until the new 5 series comes out.

you can spend a little extra and get the e60 CPO'd after the fact. Just bring the info of the car prior to purchase to a dealership and see how about doing that> There are also a few members here that have purchased 3rd party warranty's to help off-set the cost of maintenance after the 4 yr/ 50K miles comes up. Use the upper right search bar for both topics, as both have been discussed in a few threads. As stated before, take your time and do some research. There is a wealth of knowledge here on the forum, just gotta find it. GL with your purchase decision.
***don't get caught up in the horror stories of owning an e60 and cost of maintenance. If you own and drive any car long enough it's going to need some repair. I think on this forum you'll hear far less of such stories, or just simple, possibly less expensive ways to fix them. Most money is spent taking it in and being at the mercy of your service department. If you have an idea of what could be wrong, you'll have an idea of the cost of repair (another great aspect of this forum). I think we tend to focus on the negative and remember the horror stories far more than the great experiences. I mean, if one overhears someone bragging about how great their car iwe tend to tune out, but most definitely have your ears wide open when someone has a horror story to tell....

Yes you are correct... both 545i i'll be test driving will be a 2005 with around 30K... neither one from a BMW dealership.. so.. I only have whatever left on the factory warranty..
For a 2005 car.. the warranty should be out by sometimes in 2009.... is it possible to bring my car to a BMW dealership and ask for a CPO type extended warranty?
I have own many Jap car.. and all I can recall is that.. everytime I bought a Jap car.. I always tell myself that my next will be an european car.. and bimmer and MB is always on my mind..
Anyway.. does anyone know when will the next 5-series hit the market? that is one of the factor that might change my decision...
cheers

Hey guys,
I'm seriously thinking of getting a 2005/2006 545 with around 30,000 miles on it. Honestly... also thinking the 2006 GS430.
Concern with the E60
1) Heard so much problem with the E60 (All Models)... spending too much time at the shop.. repair cost is high...
- Common problem fail clutch?.. door rattling.. computer/electronics part fail...
- I'm a newbie when it comes to bimmers.. lots of E60 owner claimed failing clutch with less than 40K miles? Comeon .. it's a german engineered and it's bimmer... WHY?
2) The new 5-Series is due in couple of years? say mid 2010 for a 2011 model(correct me if i'm wrong)? I think the next major change for the GS is 2012 and might be available in mid 2011.
Any input guys? please help.. will be checking out one GS430 and two 545i this weekend and hoping to lock down one of the deal..
Cheers

The only people you see driving a Lexus is old ass men or gold-digging women who have no idea how to drive in the first place. I hate Lexus, its a crappy ride with crap handling.
