Gearbox specialist recommended not servicing my gearbox?
Helo, today I requested a gearbox service from a reputable and recommended gearbox repair business .
I was shocked when he said he wouldn’t recommend me serving it(money for them..).
the reasoning was that the car (2007 175000km) (Auto) Doesn’t have any major issues, just some clunky changes when cold mostly. He said because it’s unknown if the car has had a gearbox service done before, the old oil might not drain properly and the new oil will just pick up the old sediment and become “sticky” possibly causing bigger problems.
Im not sure if i understood correctly or explained it precisely here, but what are your thoughts on this?? Thanks

if he does it properly, he should remove the old oil and flush the whole system with new oil until only new oil comes out.
that should not result in any problems. However, i heard the CAR NINJA say that someone (instructor) from ZF said not to replace the old oil with new, but to put the old oil back in
