Today in my E60 530i, i tapped the gear shift over to DS and nothing happened. The orange light next to D went off but the light next to m/s never came on. The dash showed it was still in D, and trying to up or down shift with the +/- didnt change anything either. Anyone have an idea whats going on?
and as of last night none of the orange lights work, and Manual and DS modes still dont work.

Yeah two different specialists but both have been unable to fault find due to mine being an intermittent fault. Hope to be able to leave it with one of them for a week so they can investigate further at end of the month. Be interested to find out what your garage finds. Fingers crossed we don't have to empty our bank balances!

P, R, N & D are all engaged via a mechanical switch. The manual and sports mode gear selection is done via an electrical switch. So this is probably an electrical connection fault of some sort.

N.B. This is for pre LCI cars.
