went to install gw500 following all the diy's on here i have a 04 nav no cdc, pulled glove box and there is no prewiring for the cdc?now what? everything i have read is saying i have to buy a cdc and install it get the car programed for cdc and mp3 then install the gateway.? is that correct because when buying this from fantastic5 and reading from other members a non cdc nav no nav car would work fine with install... any help would be great, ive read so many posts on them and no one is giving a straight answer..

'cuz the fiber still in a closed loop by a jumper block ... you see those 2 thick plastic wrapped wire in the background? That's the fiber line.

You don't have to ... it depends on how friendly your dealer ... in my case I installed the GW500 myself show it to them and my dealer was cool w/ it.
If all good have the dealer code it for iPod interface as the GW500 will announce itself to the programming station as OEM iPod module during chk.

thats what i have always been told and read about because either way you still have a fiber optic line to tap into cdc or not, just has to be coded for one if its not already.then it will be able to display text on idrive screen.ill have to wait and see what the dealer says and how much explaining to them ill have to do.

Mine's not coded yet, that's why I'm trying to find out - it will probably make the difference between getting a Dension or getting an OEM iPod adapter in my case, as I don't like any complications with my babE60
