Gas Leaking from Car?

That is the first time I have heard of a cracked gas tank on an E60. How old is your car and how many miles do you have on it?

2006 and 35K. Dealer said they had never seen it before. Kind of implied I might have overfilled the gas. To me that seems stupid. A gas tank shouldn't crack because you put an extra gallon of gas in it.

That's BS! It's not like you're filling it with a high pressure hose. Dealers say anything to try to deflect responsibility it seems.

I was just wondering if the age or mileage might have been a contributing factor but it doesn't appear to be.
That was a poor response. How exactly can you overfill a tank? If you overfill it, the gas spills down onto the ground.
How far was the drive from the gas station to your house? Was it far enough to use some of the gas in the tank?

That dealer is full of rubbish! There's no way on earth you could have cracked your gas tank unless you filled it up with liquid concrete and dropped the tank from the 4th floor! LOL
