Default Is the fuel injector faulty?

Hey guys,

INPA is feeding me this information from my car (see attachment). Does it mean I have a bad fuel injector for cylinder 4? I have switched the coil and spark plug with other cylinders several times, and still getting SES for misfiring, cylinder 4. What do you think? Thanks!!!

FYI: It's a 2006 530i (N52 Engine).

No. A misfire is most often caused by a spark plug or coil. If you haven't changed your plugs in a while maybe change them and while your in there swap your coil #4 with #5 and after plug change you still have the misfire see if it moved to the new position.

Tony, I changed the spark plugs when the car had around 50,000 miles. Currently, it has around 81,900.

I un-installed and examined the spark plug #4 and #2 yesterday. They appear to be in similar condition. I switched them around (including the coils) and the same misfire persists. I have also done the same kind of swapping with other cylinders several times.

This problem (includes rough engine running) happens more often after I uninstalled and installed the intake manifold to change the starter, oil separator assembly and new MAF sensor within the last two days.

I already checked all the hoses and connections and they look fine. New gaskets are also replaced on the throttle body and intake manifold.

I saw this video and wondering if I can use INPA to monitor how the fuel injectors are working ?

Thanks!

Not sure if was you or not, but someone else had a rough idle and mention that the two small lines behind the oil filter housing were damaged. Seems as these were for vacuum and when they replaced them it seem to fix their issue. I'm thinking it was a N54 motor though and not sure if these lines are on all cars or not. You could also have an injector issue like you mentioned. The bad part is if your luck is like mine it will be the last part that you throw at it that actually fixes the issue. This always seems to happen to me. I've gotten to the point where I try once maybe twice then take damn thing somewhere... ha!

I am going to swap the two fuel injectors and see what will happen. Changing the starter by myself is already costing me more than twice what the INDY Shop would charge me. :-(

Thanks!

If you swap the injectors, they have to be programmed for their new position.

I don't think the N52 Engine requires coding when fuel injectors are replaced or swapped. There is a guy from this forum who did it in the DIY section; and it seems simple enough.

Here is the link: https://5series.net/forums/diy-do-yo...njector-96031/

Interesting. I was under the impression they all had to be. But this was something I also also looking into when I had a similar problem on my 535. These have to be programmed.

Default Ultrasonic Fuel Injectors Cleaning.

What do you think of this: Ordering Instructions - Fuel Injector Cleaning

I think I am going to send them my injectors on Monday.

I ordered one injector for $130 bucks and cancelled it after I discovered this company. I don't know anything about them by reputation, what so ever.

Does anyone know anything about this company?

The Bentley Service Manual does not mention anything about programing or coding them either.
