Hello all, my first post so please be gentle...just got an LCI 525d M Sport Auto (cracking car)!!

I know that there is a thread on consumption already, but it was nigh on impossible to track down consistent Diesel figures, so if no one objects, here is one specifically for the European guys - and oil burners!!

I haven't done the "at the pumps calculations", but the BC shows 46.3mpg for a 235 mile run, 85% motorway, running at the legal limit. How does that compare with what some of you guys get, and how inaccurate should I expect the BC to be?

to the forum, I'm sure you will find most of the information here very useful.

Thats a pretty good set of figures for that run. My overall average based on the OBC is around 30mpg in a 535D, which I'm quite happy about, considering most of the driving is town/ short school runs etc.

My normal economy is running about the 30mpg mark but I only do 10 mile runs each way to work mostly and im not the best driver for economy. As soon as it gets to stretch it legs the economy goes right up at legal speed with 40+mpg at 70mph, if i move up to my normal cruising speed of 95-100mph then it drops to about 32mpg on a run.

I have a 2005 530d sport and get 40mpg on the motorway. In town i do very short trips to pick the wife up from the station etc, which is not god for diesel engine. Only get 21 mpg in town. I have had a lok around the forum and this is about right for a 530d.

I have a 535d, get around 27-28mpg round town and 35-36mpg on motorways, though it has been as high as 41mpg.

On the point of fuel consumption my 530dA (231BHP) returns average 40 mpg (UK) or 33.3 mpg (US) or approx 7lt/100km. On a motorway journey cruising between 80-90 mph and slowing to 60 mph (stupid UK speed limits on motorways) this increases to 43-44 mpg. This equates to approx 630 miles per tank.

I also double checked with the old fashioned method - miles driven / fuel in for each fill up - the OBC was within 1-2 mpg in my car.

One point - I try to keep my tyres at 36 psi as reduced pressure seems to have the biggest impact on mpg.

Anyone else seeing similar figures?

My car is a 530d SE Auto (231 BHP) with 18" rims 2006 vintage and approx 27k miles on the clock.
