Is anybody else paranoid about the fuel consumption gauge like me? Especially when each fill is $75.
Everytime I see that needle swing to the far right side, 20L/100KM for Canadians, I slow down and lift my foot off the throttle
I then start to play a game with myself on my daily drive trying to keep it below 10L/100KM, which usually doesn't work.
From a standstill, I barely even touch the throttle and it instantly swings to the far right
Seems that it uses a lot of fuel 1st & 2nd gear. Although a check in iDrive shows that I'm getting about 10.1L/100KM

Gawd 75 bucks. Id do a dance if i paid that much for fuel in britain. Im paying 102$ a tank atm :/

On that guage change it from
50mpg(20L/100Km) and 10mpg (6L/100km)
to
'Boring' and 'Now we're Talking!'
I read an article in the paper about Prius rage in California, caused by Prius' drivers in the HOV lane driving too slow. They think it is caused by the cars MPG readout that updates real time, the drivers see the mileage drop over 55MPH and slow down, causing the drivers behind them to lose it.

Then I ignore it at all other times.......
Seriously though, I'd be gutted if BMW ever got rid of this feature as it makes BMW different to everyone else - and in a sad way I love the way the rpm / speedo / fuel economy guages do thier little dances when I put my right foot to the floor.

Yeah, fortunately I don't think many states are going to renew the HOV exemptions when they expire. I know in Virginia where I am it expires soon and talk is that it will not be renewed for hybrid vehicles. There is no need for incentives like that anymore and there are too many of these cars for such a policy to make sense anymore.
