Fuel consumption
#1
Drove 30 odd miles on an A class road, traffic was a bit heavy and average speed was 50mph. Fuel consumption was 53.3mpg. Not bad. Reset computer and then did a dash up the motorway and set the cruise control at 85mph. 100 miles later my average fuel consumption was 45.5mpg.
Anyone else out there with a 520d getting the same / better?
What about 525d and 530d's? What sort of figures are you getting?

WOW!
Only done 1400 miles in mine so still loosening up - a couple of hundred miles of motorway and minor roads at the weekend resulted in 39 per gallon, but struggling to do better. I'm still gettig around 32 mpg day to day

This is about what I'm getting with my 530d E61 Steptronic - about 31-32mpg average with a best figure so far of about 41mpg on a motorway run up the M6. This is 3-4mpg better than I used to get with my E46 328i petrol - so quite happy.

Indeed - and all that extra torque! 41mpg could be better - I tend to put the gearbox in manual and force 6th. I find the gearbox doesn't like 6th even in D! (And tends to kick down to 5th too readily!)
