I get 12l/100km in town but initially, till almost 200-300km, i got 15-16L.
How much is 12L/100km in mpg?
My friend with a 645i gets 18 in town...and it's the most expensive petrol here.
Quite alot...but it compensates in sound! 
The performance is better than my 535d but not mindblowing for the fuel consumption.

First of all congrats.
Don't worry at all. I have a 520i, and I average around 15 L/100 km for COMBINED cycle. Yes, 15 L/100 km for COMBINED cycle in a 520i.
I also average around 1 L /3000 km for oil consumption. My car has done 8900 km, and drinked 3 litres of oil so far.
I think I drive too fast

Check the calibration by tracking the actual km you drive an the actual L you put in for a while. the i-drive reading can be recalibrated using one of the secret menus - or ask your dealer to recalibrate for you. Mine was alway 13L/100km, then when I had SW upgrade it went to 16 so I had them reset it a bit lower, now it reads under 11 but I am actually getting 12 L/100km in the city (from my manual calculation) so it needs a bit more adjustment.
