hi guys,

just curious with how E60 does on fuel consuming issue.
has anyone counted how many mpg does it need? do you think its normal/high/low?
:D

I have about 1300 miles on my 530 and have been averaging about 19 mpg on each tank. However, my BMW trip computer keeps telling me that I am averaging 24 mpg. My last 3 fill ups have been 17 gallons and have taken me 320 miles each. By my calculation, that's 18.8 mpg, not the 24 the computer (properly reset after each fill up) says. I spoke to my dealer and they told me that there is no way to calibrate the computer, that I'll just have to live with 30%+ offset. This is a bit bothersome on a nearly $60,000 car. My '03 Lexus would get it right down to the hundredth of an mpg. Don't get me wrong, though...I would never trade my BMW for a Lexus. I'm generally very happy with my 530.

thats cool..thanks for the info. :) yeah..the com is quite annoying this time. try to check to the dealer regularly every 4-5 month to get software upgrade. maybe this help solve the problem..im gonna do that to my car later. at least until both the i drive and the main com software are not annoying with bugs anymore.

good ride and safe driving.. B)

Mie is giving me the same as SHarpGator. About 30 to 340 miles per the full tank. I drive the car hard 50% of the time so I exepected to have that MPG. I think is giving me the same or a bit more than my old 01 330Ci 5speed. The 6th speed in the 5 helps a lot on the MPG.

On the E46 (330ci and so on) you can access the OBC follwing certain steps and using the key and the OBC button. With that you can adjust the MPG calculation, etc. I;ll try that on this car and see what happens <_<

Don Juan, please let me know if you come up with a way to fix this. Thanks.

2004 E60 - My OBC is consistenty off too.

I have 2800 miles on the car so far and after each fill I've been checking the MPG. The OBC is consistently ~6MPG higher then the actual (29 OBC vs 23 actual).

It's sad if BMW won't fix something so simple.

What else is wrong?

have only filled'er up once - it came better than half-full - but the obc is currently telling me 28.5 mpg on 400miles travelled so far -- i drive it hard to get the reaction out of the 2.2l engine so i am not expecting great mileage... will check it out over a few tankfuls the next 2 or 3 weeks and,. if the thread is still active, will let you know the results

Skidster you are able to put 400 miles in one tannk of gas?? :o WOAO.. I drive the car a bit hard and the best I could get is 345 miles.

it seems from you all that this car is not bad for the fuel. ;)
