FTM errors since replacing CCC

So I bought my 545i from my mechanic and it was his personal car. He replaced the CCC unit of the 2004 car with one that was slightly newer (probably 08). Immediately it showed flat tire errors etc. He's sure it's when he replaced the CCC. I'm a computer nerd so I am enjoying trying to solve this now that I have the car. One issue was that the car this came from had TPM and the 2004 does not. I was able to use NCS Expert to default the car to it's VO's and now it's showing FTM. The flat tire error still comes on everytime the car is started.

I've tried to reset the FTM and can get to the options to Reset. The weird thing is that when I choose to Reset the FTM, other forum posts have said that it should show that it's "currently resetting the FTM..." but it doesn't do that at all for me. It just makes the pop up message go away that asks if i'm sure, but nothing else happens.

I've heard some people say the VIN needs set, but when I've tried to find the Znum in WinKFP that I get from INPA, it gives me an error in German and can't find it. I also tried to see if I could to it with Tool32, but i'm not as familiar with it and what module I should be changing.

I've scoured the net for people with this issue but can't find any such discussions that match my issue. Any help is greatly appreciated!

You shouldn't need the znum to set a VIN you're not trying to flash it. Just change VIN then go to NCSEXPERT to factory code it. That should solve your issue.

So after I do enter the vin and hit ok. Don't I need to click done, then that takes me to the main screen and hit "Program"? I have the newest software directly from NCSExpert

Yes those are the steps. Im mixing my ways up. For CCC if trying to change the VIN use TOOL32 by using the job fg_schreiben. You would enter the VIN + the checksum. You get that from NCSExpert. What modules did you actually factory code? Honestly all you should have to do is code CAPPL to enable the FTM vs TPM

Actually I mostly followed your instructions at https://5series.net/forums/e60-discu...1/#post1615031

It is very useful, but I didn't mean Znum I meant ZUSB. Sorry.

What is your ZUSB and the donors?

Well the CCC that INPA reports is 9170751. Since I don't have the original CCC (can ask previous owner if he still has it but don't know right now), not sure if that ZUSB is the original or the one in it. I'd guess the one in it? it has a date from INPA as 06.02.2008 so I would guess that is from the donor one and that is was probably a 2008 car especially since they were able to have TPM then.

How much does the VIN matter in getting it "coded" to the car? I noticed that the bluetooth pairing for phone doesn't seem to broadcast the same name of the device as comes up on my phone when trying to pair, etc. I def did a recording to the VO since it DID get rid of the TPM for FTM. I feel like I'm close to having things sorted, but something is not still configured right I guess.

That is the only thing it affects is the Bluetooth name. If you want it to match VIN then program the VIN. Are there any errors in INPA for the FTM. You can also reset the TPM module in INPA
