Hey everybody, I just got back from my 60k miles "Vehicle Inspection" and the dealer is telling me that both of the front struts need replacement. I've read several threads about this part being almost a wear and tear item on our cars so I kind of saw this one coming.
My question is how much should it cost to replace? The dealer is quoting me a cool $1100 with parts and labor. Also, I have the CPO warranty still in effect, but the dealer is claiming the front struts are not covered. Is this true?
I have a 2006 530i with sports suspension.

not sure what the dealership should charge, but mike from acute performace on here has some
great prices on kscoilovers. I am planning on getting a set from him soon, my 2004 530 sport
has about 72k on it.

+1000 I have the KSports and I love them, I needed new shocks/struts anyway and they were about the same price but made SUCH a big difference in ride and handling. Contact Michael (acuteperformance) he's local

He can arrange for install at a reasonable rate as well

Hi,
I sent you a PM for some coilovers. This will set you up with new suspension at all 4 corners including the ability to adjust height and rebound.

Them KSports are moving like hot cakes!!!
I just tweaked mine some more. I am actually throttling back a bit to a more comfy setting.

That's where I had mine for about 3 days. Steering was super sharp. I liked it until I drove into the parking garage at work and I discovered that those 5-inch high speed bumps are not friendly to my stiff suspension.

LOL, totally. If they didn't have so many accidents at that particular corner from people making quick/wide turns, I wouldn't have to deal with it. It seems that bump is getting higher every year.
Last time an accident happened, a brand new Lexus HS250 got into it with a Jetta. Lexus lost. I don't know what it is with middle-aged Asian ladies with their wide-turns

The struts on my 2007 530 with Sport Pakcage are fine - I had the dealer check over all my suspension components and everything is still nice and tight. 129,000 miles. Seems strange that you need struts after only 60k miles - with today's struts failures are not common.
