That part is just for creating some airflow to prevent lighter/smaller objects from hitting the underside of the car. I've had mine removed when I had the Alpina front airdam installed, haven't missed it since If you really want to be picky, patch up the old piece and snap it back into place. It really doesn't make much difference whether its patched or not - no one will ever really see it
