Hey,

I'm wondering what would the cost be for replacement on an E60 of front and read brake pads and rotors (I assume that's what the dealer normally does in a 'brake job').

Assuming the customer is paying out of pocket...

I have not replaced my E60 brakes yet...but on my other BMWs I usually figure about $700 per axle (maybe a bit less with BMWCCA discount) at the dealer.

Thats one of the main reasons why I got the extended maintenance before the price jump ($1195). Figured getting new rotors and pads front/back would cost more than the extended maintenance. Not to mention inspections, oil changes, etc....

Its about $100/rotor and $150 for pads. I would suggest Axxis Deluxe + pads to avoid dust. If you are reasonable handy you can do it yourself in about 1 to 2 hours. If not it should be about 1 hour labor at the dealer at about $140/hr.

The front pads needs a change at some 60.000 km's. Cost is around, including the sensors, Euro 150.

The rear pads need the be changed around 100,000 km's. Cost about the same as in front.

The discs need be be changed every second time the pads are.

Please note, that the BMW Service brake pad changes always includes the sensor change
and a brake checking and cleaning operation.

Most "tuners" forget the sensors and the warranty.

My car is coming up on 60k soon as well. I've changed break pads & rotors on other cars of mine following the Hayes manual instructions. Can you buy shop manuals for cars like the E60 that walk you thru the RIGHT way to do a break job on the car? I've been looking around on the web periodically but haven't found any yet.

Thanks!
