Today the error message 'Front Passenger Airbags Faulty' appeared on the idrive of my e60 and the airbag light is on the dash. I have cleared the error with INPA and the message/light goes away, but then re-appears the next time I turn on the ignition.
I'm reluctant to take it to the dealer as I don't want to be ripped off. Is there anything that I can check/change myself to resolve the issue?
I have checked the connection under the passenger seat and it seems secure. (I have an mot due next month - not sure if this error will matter?)

Just been doing some coding so I thought I might aswell clear the airbag light once more. After restarting the car it hasn't come back.
Its still early days but its looking good so far. Hopefully it was just a one-off.

Before erasing/clearing the code, it would've been good to know the code that set the SRS light. That way, you can research and find out what part is causing that light to come up.

When mine gave that message it was a faulty airbag module, replacement was the only cure.

The had the fault code '98E0' stored in the SBSR module. I did do a quick google search but couldn't find anything on '98E0'.

...the error message is back!
This time I have ran a diagnosis with DIS:

It's strange that the error message says 'Front Passenger Airbags Faulty' when the fault code points to the drivers seatbelt pretensioner?

I have the same issue, I tried the recall option and they said my car is not affected by the recall. And because I have comfort seats, it will cost me $2,800 to replace the bottom seat itself. And who knows how long that would last until the sensor fails again. So I'm giving up, is there a way to bypass the error?
