Default front fender replacement DIY ?

Hi,

I just had a yard tool fall from the ceiling and dent and scratch my drivers front fender on my 2010 528i. I want to just replace it with a new one. I did this on my daughters 2012 Nissan Murano and it turned out like new. But I had to remove the front bumper cover, the headlight, wheel covers etc. It was a project. I am hoping the bimmer will be a bit easier. Any directions out there? I can't find anything. I can tell the lower skirt will need to come off to access the lower screws. But not sure about the front bumper and headlight.

Thanks!

Ken

if you have mettalic paint, its best to let a bodyshop do the repair, so they can match and blend the paint.

can you post a picture of the damage?

replacing a fender, while straightforward on an E60, is totally overkill unless the fender is damaged beyond repair. It is aluminum, so it takes a bit less to warrant replacement compared to a mild steel fender.

Agree, it's probably best to repair it unless totally destroyed. It has to be painted regardless and painting a small area and clearing the entire fender would most likely end in a better match. Either way, have someone who KNOWS what they are doing repair and paint this you will be much happier with the result.

the paint is black safire metallic. Its a 2010, garaged ,so matching should be easy. I have kept it waxed. The damage is right next to the hood, right on the crease. I can get a new alum fender painted and shipped around 300.00 and put it on myself. I have had the worst luck with body shops. Overspray, left off parts, trashing the interior, etc... paint peeling, you name it. When I replace parts it gets back together right with all the parts. I take my time.

edit: got pics to load. that's totally repairable from what I see there. they'll want to blend into the hood.

beware of fitting pre-painted panels. depending on the paint manufacturer, black sapphire metallic can have three or more variances. maybe you get lucky and that pre-painted panel is the right variance. or, maybe not.

Default Replacing fender

Currently doing this on mine. Driver side. The headlight and bumper will need to be removed. The bumper does not need to be completely off.
