Default front brakes CBS

The idrive is indicating I need to replace front brakes in 700 miles. I took the wheels off and inspected the brakes, everything looks good. The pads have plenty of material left and the rotors are within spec and look good. The pads and rotors were replaced almost 45,000 miles ago. I feel like I have some life left in these brakes. Any advice on how to proceed?

The mileage estimate is only an estimate. There is a sensor that will get eaten through and tell you you need new pads. Wait for that.

Continue with your periodic visual inspection. Reset the CBS to get rid of that annoying exclamation point. Reset the CBS again when you actually replace the brakes. BMWs have brake wear sensors on the pads that will tell you when it actually is time to replace brakes. They've been using this sensor type setup for 30+ years.

Thanks for your consideration and advice. I'll reset the CBS and wait.

This is true if your rotors are above minimum.
