I got an annoying rattling noise over rough roads when drive at speed 30Kmh/ about. Is coming from front axle. Checked all tension strut, stabilizer, everything is ok. Tried to change also coilovers but nothing. Technical tells that sound like when a tension strut loose or broke but isnt it. The car is 530d MY2006 with 30km. Any suggestion to check other things to identify the problem and fix it?

do you have aftermarket coilovers? i have the same issue with my bilstein coilovers. Bilstein advise me to change the top hat that holds the coilovers to see if that would work.

Yes i have bilstein b8 but also with oem coilovers there is the noise. I've changed also the hat but nothing. Do you resolved the issue? I opened a new topic http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=72851
My car is a 2004 525i with active steering,etc.
The front end rattle of my car starts when the left wheel touches a small rough spot and continues the rattle for a brief time after the wheel has moved to a smooth surface. Dealer has changed both wishbone, stabilizer rubber and support but no solution. . Check this post #5702 Hong Kong E60 sub-forum Nov 9th 2007 "pinguhk".
I suspect the noise is more from a non-weight supporting component and in time I will do my own pull down and inspection.

I had a rattling that came about on the front end of my car yesterday. I had it checked out, as I thought a bolt or something came loose on the front end.
Turns out, it's the lower right control arm. The bushing/seal broke, which is giving movement to the control arm and causing the "clanking/knocking" sound. I called my SA and it's being replaced with a new, lower control arm tomorrow morning.![Smile](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/smile.gif)
PS - the only way to verify if it's broken is to have the car on a lift and shake the wheels back and forth. if you get movement and a rattling on the control arm, there's your problem.

the stabilizer links do that when they wear out. Just another thing you could check. I don't know if you have active roll control or not, but if you don't i'd check there. 30km is really early for that to happen but you never know.
