Fresh Air?

I've searched but couldn't find...

How do I get just fresh air from outside to vent through into the cabin without the fan being on?

06 530i, maybe i'm missing something simple-

I figured it out, they're called windows!! seriously though, does it not have that feature?

Nope. Just windows and sunroof.

Dang. I guess the filtered air and intake don't lend themselves to forced induction, but it would be nice to have sometimes. oh well

-1 ...Totally disagree! ...with fan off...
Menu --> Start --> Climate --> Vent Settings

If the car is moving, you're gonna get air.

Adjusting those settings just turns the fan on in my car.

This is what I was referring to. To my knowledge, with the fan off the system shuts off. It did in my 02 325iT and my 08 535i but it was rare that I bothered. I just used the re-circulate button manually to block outside smells, etc.

From the 06 manual:

Switching off automatic climate control
The air volume, the heater and the
cooling function are all switched
off.
You can restart the automatic climate
control by pressing any of its buttons

except the REST button.

Yep. The fan kicks in since the air needs to pass through the filters. The system doesn't look like it was designed to passively let fresh air in without the fan being on.

So what is your issue with the fan being on?
