Frequency of A/C Microfilter Replacement?
it looks to me (IMHO) that the dealer is scamming both BMW and you. They charge BMW NA for the change and another customer (not under warranty) for your part and the make out twice. it is an old trick.
BTW where is the meter on the idrive??

I just re-set my micro filter counter after installing new filters and it reset to 80,000 miles
Does it count down to 0 like the oil change counter...or is it telling me to change it at 80,000 miles? I've never paid attention to it...but I would assume it will count down. Either way that's a long time from now....i thought they were suppose to be changed at least once a year.
The whole system is goofy to me....my brake fluid was time to be replaced, so the dealer did it. Before the service my brake pad life was 30k on the front and 40k on the rear. After the brake fluid service it now says 50k miles for both front and rear...and this was 4 months ago, and it still says 50k miles....I don't get it

This part of the car is so non-vital that I just order one of these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...RK%3AMEWNX%3AIT and replace it with every other synthetic oil change, reset the microfilter countdown (regardless of what it says), and drive on my merry way. Too cheap to worry about it, and replacement and mileage reset takes no more than 15 minutes.

+1 its not even worth the time and agravation of taking it to the dealer.
I would never take the car to the dealer and pay them to change something that simple OR pay $45 each for them when they can be found elsewhere so much cheaper. I got mine here...2 for $20 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...em=370303915150
