was driving fine on 101N, unitl a 4x4 kicked up a soda can-sized steel rod from the side.
it hit my rear quarter panel, passenger side. left about a 10-inch gash, dented it about half-an-inch deep.
it hit along the the gas tank flap, and now it does not close properly.

any recommended body shops along the 880 corridor? bmw fremont recommended emc collisions.

arrrgh,

daydok

There is only one place in the bay area I would take my high end car:

Cavallino Collision Repair
1880 W Bayshore Rd
East Palo Alto, CA 94303
(650) 326-9800

They are the best!!!!!!

UGH! I kicked up--all on my own--a piece of leafspring steel (broken off from a car or truck spring) years ago. You should have heard that thing connect with my right front quarterpanel wheel well and door. It acted like, well, a spring! :'(

Funny, it looked so benign in the road that I didn't really try very hard to avoid it. Good luck,

Ray Hull

don't know about the 880 corridor but i recommend

haws import auto body
1812 arnold industrial pl
concord ca 94520
925.676.1944

i've had work done there and they do a great job plus excellent customer service. i also heard that cavallino was good as well.

good luck.

thanks for the replies.

for this gash (10 inch long, half inch deep), i got a quote from a bmw referred site for $1300, about 5 days worth of work. didn't realize it would be that much/take that long. either they are very meticulous, or just slow. dunno.

for those of you with geico, you have to take your car to a body shop that has a geico adjuster. they don't come to you to assess the damage. just fyi.

Stevens Creek BMW pass all their BMW body work to B-Line (Patterson St, San Jose), they do nothing but BMW and are first rate. I highly recommend them, drop me a PM if you need more info on them or the work they did on my prior 545.

EMC repainted my rear bumper and although the color matched, there is a lot more orange peel on it than the rest of the car. Just my experience.

Man, sorry to hear this! Painful enough to bear the pain and now all the post hassles of repair also. You should check out BMW of San Francisco also. They have a full service collision center & body shop and have been in biz for years.

I believe they're now called German Collision Motors of S.F. (right on Harrison Street in downtown S.F.), as they're servicing not only Beemers, but also Benz's, Audis, VW's, etc. Heard they do pretty good work overall. At any rate, another option for you. Hope you get all this behind you soon. Sorry again to hear the news bro. BEST REGARDS,
