So, now that BMW Assist is free for 4 years on all BMWs starting with the 2007 models, has anyone successfully gotten it for free on a pre-2007 model?

It seemed to be as much as a surprise to my dealer when I picked up my car last week.

So I guess there's no sense in trying to convince BMW to extend my Assist another 3 years? I just got my renewal notice - what are your thoughts - should I renew?

Only you can answer that one. Did you use the service? Do you feel it is a service worth the fee?
How many of you have signed back up after the first free year?

Nope, I didn't renew, and when I did need it, and someone else tried it on their bimmer for me, hers didn't work anyway! Good thing it wasn't a life or death situation!

Well I didn't use the service, but that's a good think isn't it? I didn't have any accidents or other issues that would give cause to use it. It's really more like an insurance policy though, if I understand it correctly. Have a breakdown? Use assist. Have an accident? Use assist. Airbags deploy? Assist called automatically. Am I missing something else?

I re-signed for two additional years. And will probably continue to renew it. IMO it's worth the cost.
