When I change my vent settings in Idrive, they work fine. It appears that when I shut down and restart, they all go to another position (default)? Is there any way to save settings so they don't change?

I haven't found a way to change that 'default' setting. Only more or less aggressiveness in getting to the temp desired.
The ventilation/heating is not very handy to put through I-drive. Not that I like the E39's center vents separated controls but that was simpeler to change on the fly than the E60.
Usually, when the car is cold and I drive in cold weather, I'd like more heat from the windscreen vents. But when the car is warm I don't. It works fine but does not take into account the cold emitted by the interior materials to make it really comfortable.

Do you have the HVAC system on "Auto?" If the auto light is on the ventilation distribution is automatically adjusted depending on the temperature setting. Try to turn the "Auto" button off and see what happens.

Duh...i 've had the car 4mos....go to vent settings on the drivers side, then get to the little plus/minus thing just to the right of the air distribution to warm or cool the air.

Once you set whatever you are adjusting, are you pushing down on the i drive ? that should save whatever you set.

Update
The Auto Button is the key. As long as you run the system in manual, it holds all settings. When you push the auto button, it defaults to preset vent settings.
thanks
