Life is full of tough choices, but it all comes down to your driving style IMHO, are you a lux-o cruiser casually looking for a sporty place to drive, or are you like most BMW drivers, a want-a-be performance driver looking for any opportunity to challenge your driving skill. In the end I think we all want a touch of luxury while we muddle down the freeway in five o-clock traffic.
D0 you enjoy the view, or do you enjoy getting there??.... quickly

I test-drove an E320 12 months ago, when I was considering a 530i (which I never did buy) and I know exactly what you mean regarding the cabin appointments. I thought that the E320 interior EXUDED "luxury."

I decided that the E320 wasn't the right car for me, but I understand, fully, that that interior can tug at you!!!!

My ultimate conclusion was what I've heard many times in the past. There is no better car in which to be a passenger than an M-B. There is no better car in which to be the driver than a BMW.

First, I'm playing mine sweeper; card games on the computer make me feel like I'm two steps away from playing mahjong at the local Y.

Second, I emplore you to get the CLS.

Get the CLS because it calls to you. Ignore the fact that when we call to you it will be with disdain, irreverence, loathing and the occasional four-letter epitaph whose vowel has been replaced by an asterisk.

Get the CLS because it makes you smile. And smiling is the first step toward laughing and when you laugh the whole world laughs with you. Of course we'll more likely be laughing at you.

Get the CLS because it comforts you. Like a warm cup of coco or a bowl of Mac and Cheese. Or a bathrobe and slippers at a convalescence home. Or a satin lined coffin tucked neatly under 300 sq ft of top soil.

Get the CLS because it understands you. The fine engineers at Chrysler spent countless hours getting to know your needs. Your need for rolling living room. Your need for a glove tight fit . Your need to know what's in the trunk by taking a quick corner and listening carefully. Your need the electrical switches of the le Baron to live on in infamy.

We here at e60.net support you and yours in this, your time of crisis. If there is anything else we can do, please don't hesitate to ask.
