Hey, Mine is missing.....the only power socket is the front lighter in my car!...shortchanged or what?

I think you have been shortchanged. There is an $8 USD part for replacing the flashlight in the glove compartment with a power outlet. That won't help in the rear seat, but it is something I did with an E39.

It might be that European specs are different for power outlets. In the US we put high priority on stuff like that and (well you know about those cup holders ;) )

Just checked behind rear panel, NO WIRING!

seems the only source of 12 volts in my car short of tapping into the battery is the front cig lighter

shame really to skimp on such trivia for the sake of about $5

that's not fair. I feel bad for you on that one. why would they omit those on yours and put them in on ours?????

Even in the USA those ports are a bit of a shortchange since they are not hot full time.

 Did someone say something about cupholders????

Just kidding. I cannot believe that their are not additional power outlets spread throughout your car. As a line in one of my favorite movies goes "In-conceivable!!!"

Bummer

Maybe there is a chance of tapping into one of the power lines from one of the amps. I hear there is a couple in the car.
Is there center console lighted? If so you may be able to look under the cubby and find a power line there.

My power oulet on the passenger side is in the top of the foot well about half way in towards the firewall and about 6 inches over from the transmission tunnel. Threre are two on the rear of the center console for the back seat area and one in the trunk on the rear lip about midway down from the opening to the trunk floor and towards the right of center. I just can't believe the European models are not the same!

As I said in another post, isn't there power available somewhere under the seats for the seat motors?

That source would not turn off with the key if that's what's desired.
