I just realized I could not figure out how to fold down my rear seats and could not find any directions in the handbook? It's not the same as the 3 series which is more obvious. Anyone know where the mechanism is to unlock both seats to fold down? There is a 30/60 split so I know it's supposed to and I paid for them!

Thanks!

Open your trunk and you'll see two handles for releasing the rear seats backrests.
Just pull them once and the backrests are unlocked, then just pull them down to the front...

or you can open your trunk, jump in there, give it a good kick, should work out great .

Those two black handles were not that obvious for me. I also had to search for the release and went from the front of the back seat where they used to be to the trunk. The two releases are tucked rather neatly and somewhat obscure under the rear of the trunk roof.

It's clearly in the manual on page 101 (or 103 of the .pdf).

I like this setup better than the E39, by the way...

I guess I like it better, too, Rudy, but only because it is more secure.

It's a little more secure but it's also less hassle not having to individually lock them to protect the contents of the trunk.

Of course the ski bag cassette still allows access to the trunk without any ability to secure it...

JDN,

You're right, the levers are not obvious. I was looking too far into the trunk when they were so conveniently located near the trunk opening. I was not expecting them to be so far back from the seat back. Instructions for mine were on page 100 of my manual.

Thanks again!

Oops! That was me forgetting to log in! BTW I really don't like the looks or the feel of that center seat belt strap. I would imagine it's uncomfortable to sit against. Also the stowage clip on the rear deck seems like an afer-thought - when stowing the seatbelt away while the seats are folded down.
