I am wondering if anyone here tried to fight with common creaks and interior sounds. My car runs great but it's not new anymore. On uneven roads i often hear creaks coming from either rear armrest or rear shelf, may be windows and lately (probably due to sun damage) i hear something even in the front panel.

The guy in the dealership here at Stevens Creek said once that people are using some kind of foam to make the car silent and tight again. Does anyone have experience with this? or is there any other method?

Thank you in advance

Are you sure it?s not the age old door seal creaking problem. I would at least try a few of the suggestions on this forum for that problem first.

Actually I would never use any kind of expanding foam.

I'm on my 5th E60 and every one has had the door seal issue, but the acoustics of the car make it sound like the creaking and rattling is coming from all over the place!

Good luck

I have about two of these creak/rattles in mine, I have really good hearing so this drives me nuts (I would say pun unintended but its Friday so...)

yes it does drive me nuts too..

as for the window creaking - it is also the problem. i am putting vaseline on door seals once in a while, it makes it better but i steel hear some.

and i am positive that in addition to windows there is something in rear arm rest or rear shelf. i am planning to let someone drive and seat on the back to figure it out. but even if i figure it out, i wonder what is the best material i could use to fix that

Hello Vlad, foam is not the answer to the creaking. Spray foam (the kind that expands and hardens) is an old racers trick to stiffen chassis's for racing. Basically you remove the door sill and spry foam into the holes where the sill are anchored and thus stiffen the chassis when it hardens. This trick works fairly well, however it will not stop the creaks you are describing.

Are you talking about sheet foam or expanding aerosol foam??

if your door seals are squeaking teflon tape will cure the problem. if your vehicle is still under warranty the dealership will install the teflon seal free of charge.

Door seals replaced and teflon tape added by dealer fixed all my car noises. I didn't even know the door seals were the issue until my SA drove my car and told me "we can fix that".

I noticed the interior noise a couple of weeks ago. Can you tell me where did the dealer put the teflon tape ? Possible to post the picture here ?
