I took a ride in my friend's 745li and noticed that when he had FM radio on, it showed the name of each song that was playing. I thought this was phenominal and then began to wonder why my car doesnt do that. I also recently saw an Audi S4 have the same thing.

Does anyone's car display the radio songs? Could we see it in 16.2? Anyone know?

What you're talking about is called RDS. Not all FM stations transmit song titles, etc. Either way, the E60 had RDS early on but it didn't work very well so they disabled it. I think it's one of the things they're working on in a future software version.

Do a search on "RDS" and I'm sure you'll find a ton of information about it...

My Jan 2004 production 545 has and always has, works great. But as Rudy pointed out, not all stations broadcast the signal for it. And cars w/ navigation have never had it, some software issues that are being worked on.

kscarrol,

It depends on where you live..

In Europe, we have RDS information on almost every radiostation.
And our car has it, from day one (spring 2004), our car has prof. nav.

TMC is working great to Love it

Right, understood that Europe was functioning better than US. My comments were for goyk who is in Chicago.

Actually, US nav cars did have it for a short time. My car came with CIP 11.2 and RDS kind of worked. BMW turned it off in a future software update because it wasn't working satisfactorily. I do think they're working on something for the CCC cars...
