I returned to my 200 mile old 545ias this evening after a 45 minute stop and restarted the car. I got the waiver menu, pressed the controller, and I-Drive showed up. I immediately went to Entertainment (as I almost always do) and the last screen I had up, which was FM Presets, was blank below the line that has Manual, All Stations and Presets. I tried to toggle down to it, but I-Drive wouldn't let me. I went back and forth between other menus, which all worked fine, but upon returning to FM Presets, I got nothing. Even All Stations and Manual works, but not FM Presets. I stopped, turned the car off, filled up with gas, turned the car on hoping for a reboot and a return to normal, but it didn't work. I still have a blank FM Presets (with the exception of the "Set" box which doesn't allow me to enter it).

I'm hoping someone else has had this problem and can shed some light as to how I remedy it. My car is a 2004 build.

It happens to me the same after 2500 km for two times in different days.

Switched off car and next morning all is well functioning.
It seems that there is a self reset after a certain time of switched off.

Currently I have no time to ask dealer why.

No voice control, no MP3: BMW dealer is investigating

My presets magically disappeared the first week, but I always thought that they were somehow reset when someone was playing with I-drive. I simply reentered the presets and all has been find thus far. BTW I have ~1400 miles at the moment.

Interesting coincidence. For the first time (e60 2500m), this morning all my settings (climate, entertainment, lighting, steering wheel buttons but not seat, steering wheel position & mirrors) were at default settings following a 24 garage stay. Reprogramed everything; this evening I will check to see if they stayed in memory.

Ricky was spot on - this morning after a 12 hour rest the FM Presets returned as if nothing ever happened. Maybe the system does revert after a certain period of time. I really do think I-Drive works well and is not as big an issue as many people have suggested; however, this glitch after only 200 miles is very disappointing. Hopefully it's not just the beginning of more problems to come.

Thanks for all the help.

Are you using the same key each time. Each key signals what presets to show among other things. Just trying to check the easy things first.

Are you sure? I think that was just in the 7-series.

He's right. The 5 series keys store their own set of radio presets (amongst other things)

Exact same thing happened to me yesterday. I lost all of my presets. I couldn't enter any new ones. It wouldn't let me.

I turned the car off and on several times and it wouldn't reset.

I parked the car in the garage and this morning everything was back to normal.

I always use the same key, so that isn't it.

Why do you think this happened to all of us the same time frame?

This is fairly bizarre. Maybe someone can post this thread on Roadfly to see if we get any more infro from there. I'll do it now.
