Hello,
I'm experiencing an issue whereby my engine speed fluctuates up and down by ~100 RPM under light throttle between 30 and 50 km/h (approximately). The acceleration remains steady when this happens (I don't feel anything strange), and all shifts are very smooth. It doesn't happen under heavy throttle, only light throttle. This is the only symptom; if I didn't look down at the RPM gauge, I wouldn't even know it's happening. It has been like this for a few months.
Anyone know what this could be? My guess would be a transmission issue but, as I said, the shifts are very smooth and there's no slipping or other strange behavior under heavy throttle when I would expect problems to show up, so I don't know...
The car currently has 125,000 km and transmission fluid was changed at 100,000.
Thanks

I suggest that you clean the mass air sensor to eliminate that possibility.

It stopped doing it by itself, perhaps due to the warmer weather, so I didn't clean the mass air sensor. I will if the problem returns.

I have sort of the same issue, when I took my 04 525i into the local dealer they didn't even come out to look at car, he just told me that from what I am describing its not the tranny, I cleaned my maf and replaced my air filter which greatly helped but the car is still acting funny, I almost thing I need to open it up and check the vanos system, I will record a video of the issue today since symptoms are very hard to describe.
