Hey all,
I just wanted to throw out some 'possible' useful information for run flats. I ran over a screw about a month ago on my Bridgestone run flats for my 06 550i. I researched and researched for ways to possibly fix my one expensive tire. I found that many tire shops won't fix a run flat because you're messing with the inner workings of the tire, which may cause the tire to blow. (according to some of the websites). I live in the L.A. area and found that America's Tire Co. will actually fix your run flat for free. The told me they don't use a typical plug that another shady tire shop may use and that's why they can do it. They also said the fix will last for the life of the tire. Also, they warned that a run flat should only be fixed one time. I asked what the catch was and they said there was none. Fortunately for me, when they removed my tire and checked it, they found the screw had not punctured my tire and there was no leak. I expected to be charged some fee for the labor, but to my surprise i left without reaching for my wallet.
Still, I have the question if it works since they didn't do anything to the tire. But for those who want to give it a shot or get some more info, you may want
to try America's tire co. And no, this is not an advertisement for the shop.
